If you need more funding for your studies, you may be applying for either:
- Who is eligible to apply
- Second-year funding (for your next academic period), or
- A top-up loan (additional funding for your current academic period).
Applications are currently being released in phases by intake and country.
At this time, second-year and top-up applications are open to students from India only. We’ll share updates as additional funding becomes available.
Second-Year Funding
(Funding for your next academic period)
If your course has multiple academic periods, you’ll need to submit a new application for each period.
Even if your dashboard shows “pre-approved”, this means you were conditionally approved. We still need an updated application to confirm your funding because we assess funding per academic period.
Can I apply for multiple academic years at once?
You can indicate future funding needs in your first application.
However, we require a separate application for each academic period so we can:
- Review your updated financial situation
- Confirm your budget and cost of attendance
- Ensure your credit profile remains in good standing
- Meet regulatory requirements
This helps ensure your funding continues to reflect your current circumstances.
When can I apply?
Applications open 12 months before the academic period starts. If applications are open for your next academic year or period, you’re welcome to submit your application.
We recommend applying at least one month before your next academic period begins.
How do I apply?
- Log in to your Prodigy Student dashboard
- Select the next academic period
- Complete the updated application
- Submit your revised budget
- Upload any requested documents
You won’t need to resubmit everything from your first application; only updated information where required.
What influences second-year approval?
When reviewing your application, we consider:
- Your credit profile (it’s important to keep this in good standing)
- Any additional debt taken on since your original application
- Your current financial position (this should remain stable or ideally improve)
- Proof of previously declared savings (if applicable)
If you’re studying part-time, your income should not decrease during your studies.
Important for part-time students
If you’re studying part-time, your income should not decrease during your studies. Your original loan was assessed based on the income declared in your first application.
US State Restrictions
If your school is located in certain US states, there may be restrictions on submitting a brand-new application for your second academic period unless funding was reserved in advance.
This may apply to schools located in:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, or Wyoming.
If you’re studying in one of these states, it’s recommended that you request future funding during your first application.
Top-Up Funding
(Additional funding for your current academic period)
A top-up loan is additional funding for the same academic period you’ve already received funding for. If your circumstances change or you need extra support, you can request a top-up through your dashboard.
Top-ups are limited to Indian customers applying to eligible schools and courses.
How do I apply for a top-up?
- Log in to your Prodigy Student dashboard
- Select your current academic period/ the period you need additional funding for.
- Request additional funding
- Submit your updated budget and any required documents
We’ll review your request and let you know whether additional funding can be approved.
Will I be eligible for additional funding?
Top-up approval depends on your remaining eligible loan amount.
Your total loan cannot exceed your school’s approved cost of attendance. If you’ve already received the maximum eligible amount for your academic period, we may not be able to offer additional funding.
All top-up requests are subject to assessment and approval.
Important timing note
We can only consider top-up applications up to one month before your academic period ends. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer additional funding once your class has already ended.
