As part of your Prodigy Finance application, we may need to verify your credit report or credit history. This helps us confirm the information you’ve provided and assess your application.
No credit history? Many of our customers haven’t taken out credit before. Having no credit history does not disqualify you from a Prodigy Finance loan. You will just need to provide us with a ‘no hit’ credit report.
No credit card? You don’t need a credit card to have a credit report. Other types of credit may appear on your report, and having little or no credit history is acceptable.
What is a credit report?
A credit report (also known as a credit bureau report) is a document prepared by a registered credit bureau that summarises an individual’s credit history.
We use it to understand:
- Your previous and current credit accounts
- Your payment behaviour
- Any late payments or defaults
How do I get my credit report?
This depends on your country:
- In some countries, we can fetch your credit report directly with your consent
- In other countries, you’ll need to get a report yourself and upload it

What if my credit report shows late payments?
If your report reflects late payments or delinquent accounts:
- Please email info@prodigyfinance.com to explain the circumstances, or
- If the information is incorrect, raise a dispute with your credit bureau and request an updated report
What if my country doesn’t allow me to get a credit report?
If local regulations prevent you from obtaining a credit bureau report, contact us at info@prodigyfinance.com. Our team will advise you on alternative documentation we can accept.
Will applying for a loan affect my credit score?
Requesting a credit report as part of your application may appear as a footprint on your credit file. Whether this affects your credit score depends on your country and credit bureau.
In most cases, this has little to no impact, but practices vary internationally.
